8703e Program Delete
 

All,

New owner of Sprint 8703e I bought on Ebay. Running version 4.1.0.359 and DM 4.1. Loaded a game to try and now want to delete it. Deleted it using application loader and it is still there. Ran a search and also tried to 30 second battery pull, and no change. Note that it is not just the icon, the game (Stratego) also tries to come up too by asking to buy or enter your password (thought it might be a trial but it is not).

Any other ideas on how to get this off my BB?

Check and see if you have an IT Policy on the BB. Read the first paragraph.

Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ

I went to Options - Security - General Settings and at the bottom it reads "IT Policy Name: Default"

I'm unclear if this even has an IT Policy installed? Does it appear that it does?

Yup pretty sure you have one. You can read the rest of the info to remove it.

While messing around, I went to Options - Advanced - Applications and clicked on the game filename. The option came up on the right hand screen to delete, so I selected it, confirmed Yes when asked, and the hourglass went for about 10 seconds. When I returned to the main screen the game icon was gone.

My only fear is that I may have gone around the standard way to delete a program and may have caused issues with the equivalent of my BB registry file. All seems OK so far - hope it stays that way. Thanks for the help.

If there is any problems you can always just re-install the OS on the BB and all will be fine.
