Are there any ebook readers for Blackberry? I'm wanting to move to BB from Palm but don't relish the thought of losing my Ebooks.

Thanks.

If your eBooks are already in PDF format, just email them to yourself and you can view them as an attachment (Blackberry supports attachment viewing of PDF, Word, and Excel files)

One could also use one of the Dynoplex software such as eWord to view Word documents on a BlackBerry.

The thumbwheel on the Blackberry and configurable font sizes (Try "Millibank Tall", 10 point, my favourite font) will make eBook reading a pleasure. The problem is you're limited to PDF, DOC and TXT eBooks at this time, to the best of my knowledge.

Any progress on this?

There has to be a better way than digging through emails, for crying out loud.

Is Adobe going to bring Acrobat Reader to the Bberry?

We have released a free PDF viewer as part of free eFile a while back. Check it out at www.dynoplex.com.

Has anyone tried eFile to view PDF. Does it format correctly, does it show graphics, etc.

What about just a basic Doc reader?

Mark Rejhon 02-22-2005 01:02 AM

Actually, now I think there's a loophole to allow you to read Palm Doc files on a BlackBerry.

EDIT: Try the JEDI reader:
http://www.beiks.net/DShowTitle.asp?TID=24
It's a J2ME/MIDP eBook reader for java phones.

J2ME/MIDP midlet software works on BlackBerries, you can actually use Motorola/Nokia/Sony/Siemens java phone apps on a BlackBerry! more info.

There is an another way for making ebooks for BB and it's working superb :)
You need:
1. TequilaCat BookReader 1.6.10 (beta) + Shell 1.8.5 - for making ebooks: jad and jar files from txt files (one txt file for chapter must be < 65kB, than you could create bigger tan 65kB ebooks)
2. BlackBerry JDE - for converting ebooks (jar, jad) to the COD, and alx.

3. BlackBerry Desktop - for loading ebooks on BB device :)

It works verry good and ebooks are full screen and suports localizations (polish for example).

Mobipocket Reader

Mobipocket has released a free ebook Reader for Blackberry supporting .pdb files and Mobipocket ebooks. (see some screenshots below)

Convert also for free your .txt, .html, .doc, .pdf documents to Mobipocket ebooks with the free Mobipocket Desktop Reader : http://www.mobipocket.com/en/DownloadSoft/DownLoadReaderStep1.asp

Enjoy it!

Mobipocket

I installed mobipocket on my BB and it's working quite well.

Mobipocket is a great program. I have read many books on my BB with it

EricaJ1074 04-27-2006 09:38 PM

I can't get it to install on my 7105t at all. Keeps asking me to complete a previous installation (which I've tried to delete but can't delete the Program Files-access is denied in my own pc-to re-install). Any help?

Mobipocket reader on 7105t

I woudl attempt to re-install it under a different subdirectory of C:\Program Files. I am using this on a 7105t very successfully nd love it. I have also taken many of my Word and TXT files and put them into rader format. Helpful for things like contracts, etc.

I am reading Books with an integrated EBook reder from BlackBerryBooks. Works fine too and I am quite satisfied.

Is there a way to download eFile OTA? Can't seem to figure that out...

jpom 08-01-2007 12:10 PM

Another vote for mobipocket from me. I love it, the new beta supports the SD card in the 8800/pearl/8300 etc also. My only issue is that occasionlly when I exit the program it will not keep my place so I have to find it again, of course it is still in beta so not much to complain about really.

Also converting html/pdf/txt/doc etc to a mobipocket format is quite easy with the mobipocket creator, and it's all free for personal use.

I would so love eReader to have a reader for the BB. I have so many titles that can't be converted. This is actually a convergence hurdle for me (albeit a somewhat minor one compared to non-OTA GPS... but that's another thread)
