RIM's Tablet the Blackpad is Coming in November
I just read that RIMs tablet the Blackpad will be coming this November , with a version of OS 6. The article also says there will be both a fron-facing and rear-facing camera on the tablet. differentdistrict.com/more.php?id=4110_0_25_0_C
What do you guys think? |
Its a stupid idea.
|
I can't see this catching on. Not in the business market unless they get deals with Cisco/Microsoft for good interoperability. Nor in the consumer market unless it has a completely new OS with games and so forth.
This will probably be as good as the 8220 :-( Maybe I will be wrong though... |
Yeah, I feel like they failed with the Storm and will probably do the same with this.
|
I hope the Blackpad avoids the "me too" fate, however unlikely... :(
And the fact that RIM is pressured to push it into production ASAP does not instill a lot of confidence either. They may have to offer it at a discount (compared to iPad) to entice customers, both enterprise and public. |
I wouldn't call the Storm a failed device, more so the the first Tour and Flip phone version.
The larger screen on the Storm makes it really nice, and later OS version improve the touch screen capabilities. However whether or not it gets 6.0 is another story. |

If Cisco can try to sell the CIUS, and people will buy it, why not this?
|
Definitely there will be buyers and supporters, but I seriously doubt it will be able to compete against the iPad.
|
You could be right, but I have an iPad and quite often find myself wishing it behaved more like a blackberry. It could be that I'm the only person on the face of the earth that feels that way.
|
well RIM keeps such a tight lid on their devices...
The big question to whether this blackpad will take off is.. What makes it better than the competition and will it attract the regular electronics consumer!? |

I hope RIM can deliver on this. I bought my wife the iPad and it is pretty much a big itouch and does not nor will not support flash which she hates. So I would love to see RIM put a dent in Steve Job's ego. I am testing the Torch right now and all I can say is it is ok at best. The touchscreen is too sensitive and I sometimes notice my radio is off, or it just jumps screens. UGH!
|
If the blackpad have full support of Flash and being able to tether via bluetooth on the phone, just for that is enough to be a ipad killer.

I personally think that it is a mistake for RIM to develop a BlackPad. RIM should concentrate their efforts on their Blackberry phone line up and Blackberry OS.
Personally I don't think that they can compete against the iPad or Google's Tablet which is also slated to come out. |
I don't hear a lot of Apple users complaining when new devices come out. No-one has seen or tried this out and we are already hearing negative comments. Most people said the Ipad would not do well and I see so many of them in the market.
If we all supported RIM then this would be a success. Come on folks show some enthusiasm. I"m very excited to have a RIM tablet and from what I can see it will do much better than the ipad with its specs. Its time for choice and this is 100 times better than the ipad. |
100 times better. Wow! That's really excellent for a device no one has ever seen (and I will be getting several as soon as they come out)...
|
Well if you read the specs you would agree with me.
|
I did read the specs.
But 100 times better. That's a lot when you haven't actually compared it side by side, right? It must be simply amazing!!! I guess I will wait until I can do a side by side comparison first, |
