Blackberry 8820 Unlocked problems
 

Hi All,

I am brand new here and I signed up because I am not sure where else to go to get help. I just purchased this phone from Amazon

Blackberry 8820 Unlocked Phone with Quad-Band GSM, Wi-Fi--International Version

I also purchased a Sun Cellular sim card so I could communicate with my girlfriend in the Philippines and then I can still use it when I get there. She is a reseller and has set up my activation etc but the phone will not work. It is showing no signal but I know other gsm phones work fine here.

This is my first gsm phone and my first BlackBerry. Am I doing something wrong? Is this phone not designed to work with Sun Cellular?

Also, when I try to update the phone software on my pc I am told the operating system is not the correct obne for updating. Actually I can't remember what it said, all I know is it will not let me update.

How are you trying to communicate ? Via BBM? If so, then you need a BB data plan.

It would be helpful to know the exact error message.
