BB10, the new smartphones and the quite brilliant developer mobilization program put them back on the radar. If they keep up the good work they should be out of the gutter.

There is an old expression that goes something like "market to everyone, and sell to no one". In other words you can't be all things to all potential customers and be able to succeed.

BB is trying to do just that. Instead of leveraging their business DNA with a decent non business experience, they are trying to do it all and they can't. The z10 email, calender, etc device implementation on BES10 is really no better than IOS or Android with Touchdown. In many cases it is actually worse than OS 7.1 on BES 5 for many things.

The recently announced Q5 is another diversion - a low margin device for emerging markets that will be competing with dozens of other low(er) cost devices flooding the markets there.

At least they seem to have cut their losses on Playbook and shoved it into corner somewhere in Waterloo.
