The app sort of locked up on my Tour and has since been removed.

It seemed a bit snappier than older versions I've tried, but 1Mb+ for a light app is a bit much. I still want a BB reader that syncs read articles with a Web client--am I the only one that wants this? I don't understand why non of the news reader creators will do that.

Google DOES do it with their reader. Use Google Reader on the PC/Mac and the mobile version of the site for the Berry... http://www.google.com/reader/m

Reader from either device keeps everything in sync assuming you are logged in.

I will check your link but my understanding was this it did not provide the same caliber options as Viigo

News Gator Go! was my reader of choice for this reason. Web Client + mbile client were always in sync.

Viigo lite was a #fail for me... didn't remember custom titles from one session to the next... kept loading > 800 OLD feeds with every restart no matter what I did to delete them... strangeness with the 'confirm delete' flag - seemed to work backwards. Sent the information to Mark Ruddock and loaded the new beta of the full version. It only cost me a couple of hours play time and 100K of BB memory.

Yes, Google reader has a mobile site, which I use. We're talking abut a news reader application like Viigo or Freerange, which installs on a BlackBerry, that will sync with Google Reader feeds.

Sorry...I don't understand why anyone would add an application, use valuable memory, suffer memory leaks, etc... just to read RSS feeds. Your browser is already there, already running, reasonably fast...why not use it?

OTOH...if the application offers some valuable feature beyond reading and syncing...well that's another story.

Understood. Not all folks see the same value in the same things. For me, it would be nice for the application to gather all the article content in one fell swoop so I can read them without having to link out individually to each story I want to read. In addition, Google reader mobile is so plain, almost ugly--applications are so pretty! :razz:

Not really--just one way. FreeRange will not pick up items read from Google Reader, but Google Reader will still display items read in FreeRange.

Part of the reason it's (negligibly) faster is the way it downloads and stores header info. That's also why it's a memory hog and can't recover memory it has "leaked". You might also consider you may not have the best browser options set.

But I think you've missed my main point as stated earlier in the thread...the ability to read RSS on a BlackBerry AND a PC AND keep it all in sync. As far as I know, Google Reader is the only way to fill that requirement currently.

So yeah...I do understand my point!

I used this software for a long time, right up to the point that they decided the BlackBerry client wasn't even important enough to pretend that they cared. They never did much in the way of develop for it, but at least they kind of did. Now... nothing. But hey, they still have an iPhone client! :cry:

I still begrudgingly use NetNewsWire, and it has been re-written to sync with Google instead of NewsGator. I just wish they would have done the same for NewsGator Go.

I find this "Lite" version to run smoother on my 8330 but their really aren't many RSS feeds undated on the weekend so real testing will have to wait. As I have over 20+ RSS feeds.
