BB Calendar Sync Help Needed

I'm hoping to seek some input for calendaring issue that has recently come up.

I am on VZW (8130, but I don't think my issue is device specific) and I use primarily BES as my default Inbox, Calendar, Task and MemoPad. My inbox and Calendar sync wirelessly with my company's Lotus Notes based platform and I rely very heavily on my LN Calendar and BB Calendar to be in perfect sync as I travel a ton.

I also receive messages from my VZW.bberry.net, GMAIL and YAHOO accounts on my device, but I have not used the calendar for any of these services.

We recently hooked my wife up with a VZW 8130 and she is using the VZW.bberry.net service for both mail and calendar to maintain our household family calendar (i.e. parties, doctor visits, kids school/activity functions, etc.).

We initially tried her creating a meeting invite on her device (VZW BIS) and then including me as an invitee using my work email (BES). This resulted in some odd emails and erroneous calendaring messages, so I assumed this was due to a compatability oddity.

We then tried sending calender items from her device using VZW BIS to my device using VZW BIS and this works just fine (no surprise).

My issue now is that while my BlackBerry device has 100% of my work and family events on the calendar, the family events are not getting synced back from my device into my work LN calendar. This is leading to possible conflicts when I book things on my laptops LN calendar.

I'm hoping somebody can help me make this more seamless.

Thanks,
Greg

There could be an IT Policy on your BB preventing it. Strange, but it could happen.

What calendar does your spouse use? Is it Google Calendar? BES could be blocking it. Only hing that I can think of.

Also, I do not recommend using the carrier supplied email address - the vzw.blackberry.net. You are opening yourself up for lots of spam if the address gets out as it is an unfiltered account. Plus the only way to check mail to that account is on the BB, so when there is a BB outage, you are out of luck as there is no web based means to read or write. In addition, you do not own the account so if/when you change carriers, you cannot take that email address with you. IMHO, a much better solution is gmail (or Yahoo).

Dubdub - Thanks...While I suppose I know that about the carrier provided BIS email, I never gave it a thought.

I'll work on getting her using a separate gmail account.

Regarding the calendar, I'm no genius on BES/BIS or IT policy issues, other than I know my company does install an IT policy to each of our devices (not my spouses thou :oP). My initial question still seems to stand.

The calendar for your Lotus Notes or your BES account is a separate calendar from your carrier or BIS calendar. The only calendar that will sync to Lotus Notes is the one that is set up in BES to sync.

I don't know anything about BES to know if it can sync both a BES and a BIS calendar to the same device. I do know that Notes has issues with invites that don't come from another Notes client. My wife used to be stuck with Notes and whenever I would send her an Outlook invite it was always a mess.

Her most common issue was the event being scheduled on the wrong date. Well, more correctly, the day was right but it would be scheduled for next year. Or worse, 2 years ago.

Go thorugh Notes help or maybe call your IT people and tell them that you are having an issue with meeting invites sent from BlackBerry. Really no need to tell them that it is personal stuff. See if there is anything that they can tell you.

My wife's company fixed the problem on their system by switching to Outlook/Exchange.
