Will Desktop Manager 4.7 work or do I need 5.0?

Thanks

scook1 04-10-2009 04:57 AM

im using DTM 4.7 and it keeps failing to open, my it only works with 5.0 DTM.

bogman 04-10-2009 04:59 AM

How is it? Would you recommend trying it?

JvKintheUSA 04-10-2009 05:15 AM

Please post the good, the bad and the ugly about 5.0. Any major changes?

Desktop Manager 5.0

Any suggestions where I can find DTM 5.0?

Foxglove 04-10-2009 07:02 AM

Wirelessly posted

DM 5.O isn't out yet I used 4.6.

I like 5.O and its running well on my bold.

Biggest change is BBM its like that of the storm. If having several convos a box pops up conversation field showing name and first line of conversation.

BBM Contacts field also show last line of conversation as well as status.

No mopre menu > change option, there are drop down boxes instead.

Emails can be flagged and searched by flagged emails.

A few changes in the browser one of which is apop up box for example on this forum if I put my cursor on 'log in' a box appears saying 'go'.

There are some options that may need BIS 5.0 for example there are 2 spam folders one formail and one for browser.

Out of all mu applications 3 won't work. Viigo, Gpsed and the fB app.

4.7 wont bring it up... I just used the app loader to upgrade... Keep in mind this OS is a BETA so some of ur apps WONT work (CONFIRMED: MySpace, Facebook, Viigo, among others) some apps WILL work (CONFIRMED: Google Maps, Capture It, BerryBuzz among others)

Major differences:
Start up screen now shows the word "Blackberry" with a status bar on how much is left to load
Profiles - new profiles have been added ("Medium", "Phone Calls Only", "All Alerts Off", "Set Contact Alerts")

jfteran 04-10-2009 07:27 AM

More major differences:
Media - There's a "View Memory Use" feature that shows u how much media ur using and on what...
Pictures - Use trackball to go from one picture to the new by scrolling left and right instead of having to click N or P (which u can still use)
BBM - Refreshed looked pretty much...
Browser - Is faster but in this BETA OS it goes to Media Net when you open it (a bug) so to use the browser u gotta use "Go To..."

So far so good for me using this OS :)

Well isn't this exciting news. For those of you claiming facebook incompatability, what rev are you running? 1.2 or 1.5?

jungleland 04-10-2009 08:16 AM

Not sure I'm ready to jump on this ship yet...The lack of app compatibility is a major issue for me.....

New OS for Bold (5.0)

Just upgraded to the 5.0 OS and was running the Beta 4.6 prior. I also upgraded to the 1.5v of Facebook and now the icon is no where to be displayed on the new OS. Anyone else having this problem?

NJBlackBerry 04-10-2009 08:22 AM

From what I've heard, several applications, including Facebook, are not compatible with handheld OS v5.0.

Mods - can you move to the Beta section please.

SteveO86 04-10-2009 08:24 AM

Cool, I didn't think we'd any 5.0 leaks few another few months.

Can't wait for an 8330 5.0 leak :)

**threads merged** one is enough

NJBlackBerry 04-10-2009 08:26 AM

It's an early beta. I loaded it fine with DM 4.7; not a problem. Yes, application compatibility is a major issue. When you install an early beta, you take risks. That's one of them.

I backed down to 4.6 since I wanted the applications over the new, early beta OS.
