This update is English with Chinese support.

***Note: This OS works on any Curve, however, TMo users will not get a browser service book. It is an issue with TMo/service books and no fix is in sight yet. TMo users the latest version is the version from O2. You can get it here.

Offhand, I couldn't tell ya. I don't own a Curve. I'll see what I can figure out on Monday when I can play with my co-worker's Curve. Sorreh. :\ If anyone has the opportunity, play with the OS versions and post 'em on here. =3

This should fix the Calendar sync issues on the Curve. Should make some happy campers.

Edit 7/4/07: A Patch for the Calendar issues has been released by RIM. You don't need to upgrade to this OS to fix the Calendar issues anymore:

2007 Calendar Patch

I have it running on some Curves. New modules which may be of interest:

net_rim_process_launcher
net_rim_bis_launch
net_rim_bb_device_selftest

I hope that this does indeed fix the calendar issues.

Really, now. Any word on what they each do or contribute to, specifically?

Beats me. I installed the Rogers OS on an associate's BB, and it didn't come on until a handset wipe and re-registration, and he's on the T-Mobile network. I would conjecture that the new platform version would offer such results (theoretically speaking, of course).

cellguy 06-30-2007 12:20 AM

Just installed the new OS and got my first calendar reminder since getting the 8300!! Worked like a charm.

cellguy 06-30-2007 12:31 AM

ok, one problem. Can't seem to hit the web or send and receive any email. I have edge (lowercase) and tried resend sevice books but it looks like I can't receive them. Any ideas guys?

donthateme13 06-30-2007 01:32 AM

edge in lower case is not (usually) an OS problem but a network problem. Have you tried turning the wireless off and back on?

Do you have EDGE (in all caps) and have you tried Options >Advanced Options > Host Routing Table >Menu Key-Register Now? If that doesn't work have you tried sending the service books from the BIS site?

Lex Luthor 06-30-2007 02:07 AM

I hope this OS update fixes issues others have had such as the Calendar Alerts, Syncing to Outlook and low memory. I'm loading the OS right now so I'll report back later.

biggem001 06-30-2007 02:19 AM

is it really worth it to update? im running on the latest ATT os, i get calender reminders. my thumbnails load fast

unless there are some major program upgrades, (like those 3 new things 1 guy mentioned) should i really update?

like, i see all these browser problems n such, and screw up, but it it worth it?

John Clark 06-30-2007 02:21 AM

Should fix calendar problems and syncing to Outlook. As for memory, not sure. I'm guessing not. You need to slim down stuff on the device. Make sure no languages are there. If you are having memory issues I don't recommend adding all the themes. Remove the large ones if you are not using them. Don't install the help application and remove the demo video, etc.

The browser problem has only been on TMo (as far as I know.) If you are just on a BES then the calendar issues are not a problem. If you are using BIS, or both BIS and BES, and syncing calendar via Desktop Manager then there are major calendar issues that are fixed with this update.

Lex Luthor 06-30-2007 03:31 AM

After the upgrade I had no issue sending/receiving emails or seeing my browsers. The BlackBerry does seem faster especially when I open the Media Player and browse the CD's I have loaded onto the MicroSD card or want to open pictures. I do have calendar alerts now which is great! That's all I have noticed in the short time that I have had this new OS. If I notice anything significant differences I'll post them here.
