Rogers 7130g ...hmm

Looks like Rogers will be releasing a 7130g at launch as well. Looks like it will be running OS 4.1.0.382. The latest Device.xml and Vendor.xml files available shows the following:

Code:

                <!-- 7130g -->
                <os radio="GPRS" series="7100" Colour="True" Theme="Normal" JVMLevel="1.0" KeyboardType="Reduced" MMS="True" Bluetooth="True" Sound="Tunes8700g" SystemSize="normal">0x84000903</os>

Code:

      <bundle id="System" version="4.1.0.382">
        <devicehwid>0x84000903 0x1C000504</devicehwid>
      </bundle>

when available would it be possible to download this os and use on a regular 7100?

nope. completely different architecture and hardware. kind of like installing an 8700's software on a 7290.

for them to be putting it into the Vendor.xml already, i could see an early to mid-3rd quarter release (at the latest). the FCC filing for Cingular's was this past week, which usually means that we will see the release within a week or two (i'm guessing it will be officially debuted at WES and available by the first of June from them).

well There saying September for Rogers...

I would listen to jibi he knows his stuff. Rather than some guy working at a cell phone store. I work at one too just saying its like me asking my tmobile or cell one rep about something they aren't too bright as opposed to someone who knows his facts.

nah, i'm just using logical thought with this one - i know nothing of canadian carriers. i'm sure someone with a rep would know more than i on the subject.

well the thing is...the rogers reps had a meeting with the blackberry rep..and she showed them the demo version of it...so before you talk to fast..maybe you should wait and see...;-)

Rogers doesnt have dumb reps ;-) hahah

and it appears O2 will be getting this as well...

Code:

        <vendor id="0x7D" Name="MM02 UK/IRL/NL">
                <bundle id="System" version="4.1.0.382">
                        <devicehwid> 0x84000903</devicehwid>
                </bundle>
        </vendor>

...StarHub as well. and Swisscom. and CSL. Looks like Swisscom will get the 8707 too.
