Hey Guys,

Been haveing this problem now all week and not sure whats happening.

I heard its a Carrier problem but they arnt being much help.

I have two screen shots below with the problems.

red "x" with "mailbox could not find original message, if forwardingor replying please resend the message"

as you probberly knwo this happens only when you reply or forward a message.

Anyone got any info on this?

Cheers (y)

What happens if you try to resend it? What flavor / version of BES?

I'm randomly getting the same problem, we're running BES 4.1.4.15 with Exchange 2007. An admin of ours had said it could have something to do with the mail no longer being in the inbox, but we're getting the error messages a minute or two after being sent/received?

You've confirmed the message is still in the Inbox?

What happens if you try to resend it?

Have you always had this problem since going to 4.1.4?

Sounds like a exchange server based rule for the individuals mailbox. A message is moved in a matter of seconds. Is the message is being to a .pst file?

i found out what my problem was not long after this post

...i know this will sound stupid...but i had no disk space left on my BES!!!

Thats what was casing the error. Have now put a procedure in place to clear the logs. Used to do them manually

Do you have your logs set to purge after x amount of days? I set mine generally to 30 days (longer if I can, but I'll have a script that zips up each day as to not use as much disk space) ...

Hey man,

Yeah i got a script in place now to delete logs that are older than seven days.

Is that a ok thing to do?

hdawg 08-27-2007 04:37 AM

Yeah, absolutely ... I generally use the built in functionality that the BES offers to purge log files rather than make my own script; thats all.

Are we talking about the MDS logs? Or different logs, I had over 200 rejected messages today because of "mailbox could not find the original message" , they're not being moved from my exchange inbox as the resend works perfectly.

hdawg 08-27-2007 06:13 AM

We're talking about all the logs in C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Logs (or wherever you have yours).

When you resend a message that has encountered that error, that means that the handheld is just sending the email with whatever it has in memory of the original message.

The email could still be missing from the exchange mailbox.

Truestream 08-27-2007 05:56 PM

Ok, well I still don't think they're being moved, I've checked and they don't seem to be, I'll be reapplying the exchange policies.

This is what I woke up too this morning...

The most common error...

Not as common...

If anyone has any idea as to why these could be happening, I'd really appreciate the help. It doesn't happen with every message sent, just randomly throughout all of our users.

holy moly!
