Latest OS: 8530 5.0.0.1675/5.0.0.1030 (Multilanguage)

Software For BlackBerry® Curve(TM) 8530 smartphone
Can be installed on any carrier's 8530 device by following the instructions below.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v5.0.0.1675 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 5.0.0.1675
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 5.0.0.1030
  • Software Platform: 4.2.0.451
  • File name: 8530AMEA_PBr5.0.0_rel1675_PL4.2.0.451_A5.0.0.1030_ Sprint_L.P.exe
  • File size: 107.24MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...BB765225CE8C0E

You can install this on any 8530 from any carrier by following the instructions below:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously).
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You may see a screen with an hourglass or a progress bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

JSanders: Your link to the new OS is not there. By the way, if the OS is for a specific telephone company, will it work on my 8530 that connects to a different telco?

glnz : to download, go to this page : BlackBerry Operating System Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ
Find Sprint L.P.
Choose your product
click to download the version you want.

To your question : "is for a specific telephone company?" Like JSanders said : "delete the file named "vendor.xml."" and you will be able to use it on an other telephone company

Dear danzig and JSanders - The link for my 8530 does not work. After I select Sprint L.P. and in the next page select my 8530, I get this:

"We're Sorry...
* Sorry, Your session has expired. Please close your browser and try again or re-enter from the link in which you were provided."

Any ideas?

FYI - I have a corporate Blackberry, model 8530 (CDMA, WiFi) on the Verizon network. It links to my email at my company, which I guess (??) is a Blackberry server. I do NOT use this BB for telephone - it has the telephone function, but it will not make or receive calls. (But it will play audio attachments in emails, and I also use its browser.) The full specs follow. I am curious what would be the pro's and con's of installing the new OS - your thoughts, please. Thanks!

When I run "loader.exe" all it gives me the choice to do is add or remove applications. There is no option for loading the OS.

According to the desktop software, I am using 5.0 Bundle 1596. It can't find any updates available for the phone when I check. I just did the update to this bundle yesterday and it dumped my address book.

Re: Latest OS: 8530 5.0.0.1675/5.0.0.1030 (Multilanguage)

today the link to download work.
I run the version 5.0.0.1000, Build 1638, 4.2.0.434
and i'm unable to install 5.0.0.1675.
if your BB is on a corporate Blackberry server BES, ask your IT before doing this, they will probably have to delete and recreate your BB from the server. easy but they have to do something.
