Installing Kardia

How can I install Kardia from the amazonappstore? It is supposed to work with Android. I can download it alright from:

https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/kardia/id579769143?mt=8

but cannot install it after getting the usual warning screen. There is no"open" or "install" button to click. The only button is at the top ribbon and opens the Amazon App store. I need the app but don't want to have to switch to an iphone to get it. I know it will download, install, and work on iphone.

Re: Installing Kardia

Kardia is not listed on Amazon AppStore.

Kardia is listed on Google PlayStore, but when viewed from my BB Classic the message is "Your device isn't compatible with this version".

Kardia's list of compatible Android phones is very limiting: https://alivecor.zendesk.com/hc/en-us#compatibility

There is promising comment from a user who has two incompatible LG V30+ phones, and Kardia apparently works with one of those phones! This feedback suggests the official compatibility list is not exhaustive, and that it instead reflects the devices the publisher has physically verified in-house.

This app would be challenging, and even if we get it working, only the publisher would be able to test that its working 100%. Is that an acceptable risk?

Do you specifically need Kardia or can another app do the same thing?

Trying an alternative to Kardia

I do not know if this helps you but there is an app called "Instant Heart Rate" on Google PlayStore.

"Instant Heart Rate" app works on my BB Classic. It only needs only an Android phone that has a flashlight and camera side-by-side so that is a good start. It also has a higher rating than Kardia and was apparently voted the best health app in the UK.

I have done only a quick test: "Instant Heart Rate" takes a long time to boot up and it might drain battery. The reading seems very accurate. The default settings cause the app to close automatically after completing a 10 second reading; but the settings include a continuous mode that is probably more useful.

"Instant Heart Rate" will probably need hacking to create a profile and store results because those features make use of Google services. The food/recipes section is squashed on the square display. I think the workout section needs a profile. There are banner adverts for premium services (££/year) and the close button opens them! When the adds open, there is a prompt saying "Instant Heart Rate" has stopped working: Wait or Close (its actually running fine - select Wait, then exit the advert).

So this works with caveats, and might not be what you are looking for?

Not many people here are going to have a Kardia peripheral, and not many will have enough time to hack apps, but please do let us know what you need..

To start you might try downloading the Kardia APK to your PC and then Sideloading it to your BB Classic.

You might hit a hurdle, but I find taking one step at a time generally gets me to the destination. Download link was generated at apps.evozi.com

Re: Installing Kardia

BB installer tells me "Unable to install this app" so some patching will be needed. Even then there is no guarantee it will work.

Re: Installing Kardia

My error. The link I included at the top of this string was from Apple. What confused me was that the title of the app was Amazon-App.cpk. I have no idea why. In any case the app I want is the Apple version, for a number of reasons I won't go into, and it is only compatible with Apple products. I guess I'll have to get an iphone. Many thanks to all of you for your excellent suggestions. Very much appreciated. I will still keep my BB.
