I am downloading now, pretty excited ... As I mentioned in the 8830 Thread I have had no problems with .66 ... I see that Dawg already has .77 .. I am looking forward to joining him.

Telling you would be breaking the rules ... I would suggest Google, sorry man.

drewsb 08-27-2008 07:54 AM

So far so go installed with no problems and everything is working so far

drewsb 08-27-2008 08:07 AM

Seems a little better on memory. I always do a battery pull as the last thing before an upgrade just to see free memory before and after just for comparison....

I started the upgrade (from 4.5.0.66) with 44MB free and woke up with 4.5.0.77 and 47MB free

Is it against forum rules to post the file name / size / md5?

Dawg 08-27-2008 09:32 AM

its just links and where to find them or any hint of where to find them

Running .77 here and it appears to have fixed the BB Messenger Contact reset bug!

Next on the list is the get-images bug.. I'm still waiting for an HTML email with lots of embedded images that are offsite to test..

Speaker phone for the first second or two.

With this release the answer delay seems to be gone, but I still get the first second or two though the speaker phone. This has been going on since at least the .51 release.

Has anyone notice anything major. I downloaded it but I have to wait til I get home to update.

jsntrenkler 08-27-2008 10:40 AM

So far working great for me ... I have not been experiencing the speakerphone problem mentioned by babryan. I do however have my phone paired with my Blue Ant Z9i. After the install I had a couple extra megs of Ram, I haven't really noticed anything different for my usage other than the extra ram. I will keep playing with it. I do have to comment on the Battery life for 4.5 in general ... It is soooo much better than 4.3.

Ooh, both bugs appeared fixed. I'm getting images embedded in html mails where I wasn't from previous releases. Cool.

Installed it and noticed a few weird things, but nothing deal-breaking. One...when rearranging the icons on the home screen, things went weird (icons disappearing, icons showing up in weird places and overlapping each other, etc.), but a alt-shift-del seems to have cleared that up.

When I click on a folder icon to go into the subfolder (again on home screen), and then I go back to main home screen folder, the upper-left icon gets highlighted instead of the folder that I just came from.

Both of those are minor issues and may be related to the theme I'm using (O2 zen).

I only got the Messenger warning, that my device was updated and everyone needs to be contacted, once, so that seems to have been fixed. The delay in answering a call seems to have been fixed as well. I never got the call goes to speakerphone for a moment in .66, so I don't know if it got fixed.

In .66 and .77 I can't import tokens into SecurID, and I can't sync SplashID databases. I haven't run the full gamut of troubleshooting, but it's definitely an issue.

On a positive note...it seems a little quicker when launching apps. I can't say anything about memory because the VZW Curve has so much of it that I never worry about it.

Nope. Spoke too soon on the first bug. BB Messenger contacts are reset after a reboot.. It didn't do it on the first reboot but it has on the 2nd.

The bug though has to do with content protection. I believe if you turn it off, BB Messenger stops resetting all your contacts after a battery pull.

But so far HTML images appear working where they weren't before.

Dawg 08-27-2008 01:50 PM

I have been one of the first to run every upgrade and i have never once been asked to reset my contacts. Thats very strange, I have noticed the memory is very stable signal strength seems better too.
