7520 very slow after sync / adding contacts

Using BES 4.0, BB OS 4.x, Outlook 2000 / Exchange 2000

All functions work ok until I add contacts. Once contacts are added it could take up to 2 minutes to view a single contact or perform any function with contacts. If certain phone numbers in my contacts list call me the phone portion is so slow that it never rings and finally sends the caller to voice mail. Some contacts view and work just fine.

I have re-loaded desktop manager, re-loaded the OS, wiped, and disabled the device from BES, deleted the user account then reinstalled the user account and device. I have also deleted the user email account in exchange then re-issued the account. That is when I found that it was when the contacts load the problem begins.

I can remove all contacts and the 7520 will go back to acting normal but as soon as the first few contacts are added it is back to slow.

Any ideas?

How much free file space is on the BB? That number is available in Options / Status...

The user is out in the field today so I can't check the exact free space. If I remember correctly there should be plenty. I will have to check and let you know tomorrow.

The user has 8000 contacts but it only takes loading 20 before it goes slow.

ok I checked the free memory this morning. There is 11MB free. I also found in reading that attachments in calendar caused some issues so I deleted all contacts with attachments hoping that would help.

No such luck. User says it is running even worse today.

I am going to look to see if there are more attachments anywhere in Outlook folders except emails and delete those items.

HELP!
