Address Book not synchronizing

Another senior moment setting in!

I just noticed that the Contacts from Outlook (using BES) is not synchronizing with the Address Book on the 8830. I can force it using Desktop Manager, but that seems rather a kludge.

Shouldn't they sync wirelessly? I have checked ever menu I can think of and done a search on this forum but can't find what I'm doing wrong.

Any ideas?

Having the same problem, but with all of my devices currently. This started happening this week and was mainly noticed on new wireless activations not getting the address book added to the phone.

Delete "Desktop ALP" in Options-Advanced Options-Service Books on handheld. And then resend service books from BES Manager.

Verify there is "wireless synchronization=yes" in adressbook options.

Good luck. ;-)

Thank you, Memina. I have deleted the Service Book and fired off an email to our Admin to resend the Service Books. I'll post the reults.

I just love getting support all the way from Turkey!!

Syncing but not visable

My address book says it has all my contacts, but when I type a name some will show up, and other wont. If I have a call from someone, I can get their contact details, but If I search for their name I can't. Everything worked a few weeks ago, its just recently that it stopped working correctly.

I have 18 megs free

Also, when I do a hard reboot it takes about 45 minutes to get the phone up an running again.

Hi...

At first I was going to say you might have a corrupt address book. One way you can reindex your BB address book is by backing up the address book (backup entire device - twice) clearing the address book off the BB and then importing it back in. Frequently there can be corrupt fields that are on a single entry and then you can reindex it by importing it back onto the device.

45 minutes for a reboot? Something is wrong??!! That is too much time...!
Can you test your email once you have the device running and how long does it take to get an email...?

Address Book

I have a sense there is something wrong at a low level with memory, but....

If I get my address book from BES, will backing it up twice via desktop still be a way to fix a corrupt record?

Yes, by backing up a problem address book, the data gets reindexed. Then you have a choice, if your current address book on the BES is current, you can clear your address book on the handheld and let the BES re-populate it or you can restore your address book off the backup.

I usually have to determine if the local address book is more current than the BES, I will import the address book off the backup. If your sync'ing wireless, the address book on the server will populate if you clear out a problemantic BB handheld address book. As an FYI, if you think you have a descrepancy, you have to make a choice and choose the backup to import or just clear the handheld address book and let the BES re-populate the handheld.

Hope this helps...

Still not working

I have replace the 8800 with a new one. Everything was fine initially. Then after a day the same problem appeared. All contacts seem to be there if I search from an email or telephone number, but if I go into the address book and look up the same name it won't appear.

You should have your BES administrator take a look at the BES logs. They can really helpful in determining what exactly is going on.

Hi...

Do you sort first, last or last, first in your address book?

Yes, logs and check Bes Admin Console

Yes, logs and check Bes Admin Console to see if your address book is setup for sync. When you get readded to the server, it will default to not sync'ing the address book on the BES server. Have your admin check this also...
