PLEASE HELP! Streaming videos possible on the latest OS 5?
I have the BOLD 9650 on Verizon and recently upgraded to OS 6 and didn't like the browser (too small of a font) feature so downgraded back to the latest OS 5. One thing I miss is streaming videos on sites like CNN, Fox, and CBS news. Is there a setting or something I can download to stream videos on aforementioned sites? HELP!

It's all about the format those sites use for their video content. OS 6 uses a WebKit browser and expands the BlackBerry's capabilities for multimedia content. The browser in OS 5 was not WebKit. Unfortunately you cannot upgrade the browser only. It's integrated into the operating system.

Are you trying to use the full html versions of those sites? If so, try the mobile versions. The video on the mobile versions of the sites should work.
Example: Just tried the following from the fox news mobile site: http://media2.foxnews.com/071411/ff_...=foxandfriends It streams fine on 9700/5.0.0.714. |

Aiharkness: Strange. The link you provided does work to stream videos but what is the main web address to get there?

Re: PLEASE HELP! Streaming videos possible on the latest OS 5?
The Fox News mobile site is FOX News - Home.
I probably followed the shows link at the bottom to find the example video. Generally speaking, the video at mobile sites should work. I have seen some mobile news sites give a choice of links, such as Quicktime and 3GP formated video links. Sometimes the Quicktime works. The 3GP always works. And some, like the Fox News site don't give you a choice. But if you are on a site optimaized for mobile, the video should work. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |
