unlock screen

After updating from the 9900 to the classic, I don't understand the locked screen process. I used the top bottom to lock my screen, on the classic you have to swipe up twice to unlock the screen, what is the top button for? Can I turn off the swipe process and just use the top button to lock and unlock?

Yes, in setting there is a place to disable swipe up to unlock
