BES user initializing...Help?

So I have BES 4.1.4 up and running but when I try to add a user it stays in the initializing state.

My Set up is a BES server (EXCHINTSDC2) running win2k3 and the mail store is Exchange 2007 (EXCHINTSE2K7).

When I add a user it stays in the initializing state.

When I choose to assign a device I get the following error.

An error occurred while assigning the device to the user.

The user is not yet known to the BlackBerry Agent.
It can take several minutes for a newly added user to be fully
initialized by the server before they can be provisioned. (16)

In the event log I see the following warnings

Event Type: Warning
Event Source: BlackBerry Messaging Agent EXCHINTSDC2 Agent 1
Event Category: None
Event ID: 20400

What am I missing? It seems like a MAPI issue but there is nothing out there on these errors. Let me know if you are seeing them and what I can do.

Thanks,

Andrew

Exchange 2007 BESAdmin permissions

Ok so the Blackberry documentation didn't work for me.

But I got it working, heres what I did. From the Exchange 2007 powershell I ran the following commands (Replace MAILSERVERNAME with your Exchange 2007 server name):

add-exchangeadministrator BESAdmin -role ViewOnlyAdmin

Get-mailboxserver MAILSERVERNAME | add-adpermission xxx8211;user BESAdmin -accessrights GenericRead, GenericWrite -extendedrights Send-As, Receive-As, ms-Exch-Store-Admin

The two items in bold are the major difference I see between the documentation and what works.

Hope that helps some one out there who was stuck like me

Froissart, my friend, you are a genius! I've been pulling my hair out for weeks trying to find a solution for the exact same problem. As you stated, the BES documentation just didn't cut it. I scavenged every related thread I could find on RIM's site, Microsoft's site, and every forum I could get my hands on... yet nothing helped. After making that one simple modification to the permissions via the Management Shell, my activation started so quickly I nearly fell out of my chair! That was the only thing that was needed this entire time! I couldn't believe it!!! Someone should inform RIM about this so they can modify their documentation accordingly.

You're a lifesaver! Two thumbs way up! (y) (y)

Thank you!!!

Is that command valid only in Exch 2007?

Hi Froissart,

I am not very familiared with the Exchange environment, but I am seeing the same exact issue (XBES 4.1.4), only that it is on Exch 2003 (not 2007).

Does that command you mentioned can be executed on Exch 2003 too? If not, what would be an equivalent for Exch 2003 or 2000 ?

Thanks a lot.
