Torch and Google Maps 4.4.0

I cannot get the Google Maps to work. I have checked the permissions and all are set to allow and prompt. I have tried reinstalling, removing the battery and no luck so far. Any advice?

Are you on a BES?

Try resetting the default permissions (not just the permissions for Google Maps) all to allow. Then reboot.

I set of the defaults to allow (two of the three can only be set to custom), then rebooted. No change.

Yes, I am on a BES

Google Maps has a history of not working well with Application Control Policies. I would check with your BES Admin about it.

Success !!!

Google Maps is now working. The solution was to change some settings at the BES. Interestingly, the BES worked fine with a Bold model but NOT with Torch. Here are the details:

In the default application control policy for optional applications, set the following access settings to "allowed":

Is access to the GPS API allowed
Is access to the screen, microphone, and video capturing APIs allowed
Can the security timer be reset (not sure this one is actually required)

I hope this helps others that run into a problem with the Torch and Google Maps combination.

Just wish the pinch to zoom and other "touch" features worked in google maps like on Android. Maybe they will have an update soon - its kind of dissapointing to have a touch screen and not be able to use it for the maps.

Edit: I just loaded the new firmware update and most of the touch features work, but still no pinch to zoom.
