4.1.4 Is Avaliable For Download

4.1.4 full install (for Exchange at least) is now avaliable for download. Looks like they have a faster server now too, used to take ages to download stuff for us.

Appologise if this is old news already, but I'm excited. Its like a birthday present from RIM

hdawg 06-15-2007 06:23 AM

upgrade still not publicly available ... BOO!!!!

Well Happy Birthday!

jibi 06-15-2007 07:59 AM

Umm, where's it available at? Not on TSupport downloads. Not on public downloads page either. It is on the Partners and Alliance portals (for a few days now).

x14 06-15-2007 10:21 AM

It's probably on the RIM ftp server.

mikeruoc 06-15-2007 12:42 PM

Nope, just checked. Not there

Available on the partner site now, anyone know what is actually new? i've heard lots of rumors but nothing official?

AndyT_uk 06-16-2007 07:14 AM

Quick Q, i work for a company in the UK which was shared but spilt into 2 companies last year. I then joined the company and am now looking to upgrade our current BES.

Unfortunately there's no/little documentation for the existing system so I can only get our SRP and CALs.

Would i be able to contact RIM to get this upgrade just giving them the SRP or will i need to go to BT who are currently supplying our Blackberry's and who we've recently brought more CALs from?

Cheers

hdawg 06-16-2007 08:22 AM

AndyT_uk - if you have a TSupport contract (Tx1 or greater) you can contact RIM and get the upgrade for free. If you're currently running 4.1 and are looking to upgrade to SP4 and don't have a contract you can wait until the SP is publicly available and download it. If you're at 4.0 or 3.x you'll either need to purchase a one time upgrade or purchase a TSupport contract which would then include the software upgrade for free

OTASL/Wireless OS Upgrades is the big addition, although it is not currently available for any devices; expect software updates and/or a downloadable package add-ons for current OS 4.2.2 devices and it will be included in OS 4.3.0 (as an ALX/COD), when released (Pearl 2). Office 2007 XML-based file support (docx, xlsx, etc) is also included.

Aside from those two 'biggies', there are a lot of minor additions and functional changes. I'm ramping up for a huge BES upgrade, so this will be our target BES version.

cheers for the info.

Believe were on v4.0 atm so I'll need to look for the upgrade I guess.

As I'm UK based, would it be best to contact RIM or our carrier for this?

Cheers once again!

Usually it is better to contact RIM directly, but there also some carriers reselling T-Support.

The documentation for BES 4.1.4 for Exchange is available for download. For Lotus Domino you can get it here.

jnelson2000 06-17-2007 03:13 PM

if you sign up for the BES Express package BlackBerry - BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express
the download is BESX_4.1.4.exe. If you are needing the enterprise upgrade you will need to wait a few more days.

No, you don't need to wait ;-) Only your license key defines which version you are able to install. The installation files are always the same. In theory you can upgrade your exsiting BES with these files, but I am not sure if it is in accordance to the license agreement.

It's not, but who's fault is that, right? :) Heck, I'm curious if BES 3.5 CALs will still be compatible with BES 5.0 when it's released next year :)
