8520 Dead or not ?

Morning all and happy new year

I put my sister BB 8520 in charage last night at around 1 AM and the red light came on and it was charging fine ...

Woke up this morning to a very high pitched noise coming from the phone with the red light off and the phone not switching on

right I stripped the phone down and the noise is coming from the motherboard

Has anyone else had this problem ? and is it fixable ?

Sounds dead to me. If an Orange shop can't fix it you probably have to replace it.

Now that you have opened it an "orange shop" won't touch it as the warranty is void. Sounds to me that a capacitor has blown due to a faulty charger. Get yourself a replacement donor phone with a smashed screen or something and use the motherboard out of it and get a new charger and battery.

If it is within warranty period better take it to the nearby service center and replace it.

No.

It is highly unlikely that any 8520 is still within warranty period, and not all countries have dedicated service centres.

Replying to threads after 5 months with no replies is rude.

You should still be able to flash a new update file on to it.
They may wake up the phone again, but will lose all data.

Wrong.
