You need to be more specific what is it doing, what happened, any errors etc?

If the hourglass is just spinning, leave it alone. Takes 20-30 mins.

IvizBerry 07-07-2008 06:03 PM

Alright.
I downloaded the Desktop Manager 4.3
Downloaded the 4.5 OS for my 8310.
During the installation, my computer stopped reading the USB and the installation canceled. Now my phone will not turn on and only the red LED indicator is blinking.

John Clark 07-07-2008 06:05 PM

eh, not too good. Does the display come on at all and show an hourglass for any length of time?

From what I've been seeing for the past 10 min. No hourglass has appeared on the screen. It's been a black screen.

Try a battery pull. See if that will get an hourglass for you. Also I am assuming DM doesn't see the device at all?

John Clark 07-07-2008 06:07 PM

Is the BB still connected to the PC? Have you tried popping out the battery?

IvizBerry 07-07-2008 06:09 PM

I pulled battery twice. Only red LED comes back on.

John Clark 07-07-2008 06:11 PM

Hmmm....doesn't sound good. Try JL_Cmder with DM NOT running. If that doesn't do it, then I'd say something is very wrong, hardware related.

IvizBerry 07-07-2008 06:12 PM

This sounds like my only solution: JL_Cmder
So I will give it a try. 8(

Keep in mind that it can take dozens of attempts to get the above mentioned steps to work.

John Clark 07-07-2008 06:13 PM

The fact that the display never lights up gives me a bad vibe.

Yep, but I doubt its a hardware issue, unless the device just doesn't recognize the hardware anymore. You might have to contact your carrier to get a replacement if jl commander doesn't work. Are you still under your 1 year warranty?

IvizBerry 07-07-2008 06:19 PM

Hm..I got my phone in April. But I don't know if I got warranty or not.

John Clark 07-07-2008 06:20 PM

If you got it from AT&T in April, then you have a 1 year warranty.

Well the devices have a 1 year manufacturer warranty from RIM. ATT is a carrier that will replace for you. Call them and ask about Exchange by Mail.

IvizBerry 07-07-2008 06:22 PM

So if this JL_Cmder does not work, that will be my only solution?
Going to carrier and say?

IvizBerry 07-07-2008 06:46 PM

Thanks SO MUCH!!
Honestly, I thought my phone was dead.
I guess I am re-installing the OS, now I see the white screen with a battery and a red slash across it.

John Clark 07-07-2008 06:49 PM

Did you start this process with a low battery?
