Battery Life on Blackberry Bold - 1500mah

Hi,

Just to know, what to do with my 4days old Bold, cos the battery can last only 24hrs. I turn off all unnecessary connections same as I did to my Curve. Is it normal, cos my Curve can last longer 3-4 days.

Please help cos I'm sick of charging it everyday.

Adili

Keep a charger with you at home, office, auto.

I do. These batteries need and like the topping off charge during the day.

I am on my second day without charging now... as at 5:00pm it's at 35%. It was at 60% this morning. I have Viigo running all the time updating news feeds and I get up to several hundred emails a day generally.

I have Firmware .167 though - that definitely makes a difference from the firmware that it comes with.

If I see that battery has gone down below 55% at night then I know it's time to charge.

Have you made any changes, i.e. setting it to 2g, dimming screen,...

Mine isn't lasting till 5pm, so I am not even getting a day. I thought it my certain apps and I am still testing but not great. Gonna get another battery for sure.

Mine is similar, but it helps the battery life to last longer by not playing with all the time, my wife thinks I am having an affair with it...

I must think up a pet name for the new babe in my life!

My dog keeps expecting it to bark when I put it down.

I get about 2 days out of mine with WIFI, 3G and Bluetooth on all the time. Amazing battery considering if I turned on the WIFI on my old N95 the battery was good for about 3 hours maximum.

I don't understand the wide variance here

Mine could never go two days. I can't even make it past 5pm.

Guys, i found it. I was always on low bat by 4-5-6pm every day. Today i put the screens backlight brightness to 30% (from 100%) and BAM, its 1:20 AM and im at 40%. I Love it. And to top it off, my screen is still bright as hell!!!

Oh, i forgot to mention, i have wifi on all day, 3G, jivetalk, viigo, and a bunch of other apps running.

My Bold lasts for three days which is great, but I've ordered an extended battery for even more standby time.

Let's test the theory - what is your screen backlight set to?

thunderstorm 11-02-2008 07:20 AM

Brightness: 80
Timeout: 45 Seconds
Auto Dim: Off
LED Coverage: Off

I should have qualified that when I posted it was a minimal call day - probably spent about 15-20 minutes on calls. When I spend more time on the phone I definitly have to charge at night.

I keep BT and Wifi on all the time and at home I use Wifi. Though I have set screen to 50% brightness - it's still visible in bright sunlight.

3G is available and I generally get full bars everywhere in the city.

I know .162 fw was better than .147, and much better than .126 which is what I got it with.

I upgraded recently to .167 since I had some instability on .162 which I could not explain.

I am not doing anything else unusual - and leave it on all night out of the holster generally. All of a sudden I am feeling really lucky to be getting two days considering all that.

I ordered it from ebay. Just type the following words into the ebay Search Box:

"NEW EXTENDED BATTERY 1700 mAh FOR BLACKBERRY BOLD 9000."

I'm a very light user, but why not have a longer lasting battery anyway!

Tried this search and came up with zero (0) results on Ebay USA. Are you using a different country Ebay site?

JG in SB 11-03-2008 02:04 PM

I found a similar item on Expansys-USA:

eXpansys Extended Battery for BlackBerry Bold 9000 (1450 mAh), #EXTBAT-9000 - eXpansys Inc

About $23.00. I am going to see how the stock battery holds up and then upgrade to this one if I need more juice.
