Using BES without email server

We have an older pop3 email server and are considering moving more people to a blackberry.

We would love to have an exchange server, but with the economy it will be some time before we do.

As a part of our quote from Verizon, they are giving us a BES.

We would blind forward all email messages from the pop3 to the blackberry email account. Not the best solution, but it works.

We would still like to set up the BES to be able to push policies to the devices.

IS this possible? Any way to use the BES for security policies without having an exchange server installed?

Thanks

I don't think so, BES works with Exchange/Domino/GroupWIse...

If you can access the POP3 server from the internet you can use BIS to access the email... Unless you got with a hosted exchange service for a few selected people.. (depending how many ppl you have to manage of course.)
