OS: 8900 4.6.1.241/4.6.1.152 (Multilanguage)

Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8900 smartphone
From Mobily, this will load to any carrier's 8900 model.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.1.241 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.1.241
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.1.152
* Software Platform: 4.2.0.91
* File name: 8900M_PBr4.6.1_rel241_PL4.2.0.91_A4.6.1.152_Mobily .exe
* File size: 123.06MB

Download the OS here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...9A7B9BFE74D58B

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 8900:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Anyone have any idea what this can do for the 8900 (besides the usual "bug fixes" and "battery life"? I'm not interested in those, they're fine for me)?

TXLady 02-15-2009 12:00 PM

So glad I didn't get around to loading 133 yesterday. Downloading now.

Wirelessly posted

Well here is a bug I noticed using beta now official. I stream my bluetooth to my radio in my car using ford sync. Had engine running then turned off my vehicle so radio stays on so music still plays well turned back on so radio has to reconnect like usual but this made the blackberry reboot. I've never had to do this before but I was in drive thru so trying to save gas and that's when I noticed this glitch not sure if this is in previous os or just this one

Strangely that erased a lot of my 3rd party settings. Twitterberry, Google mail, Google Mobile App, Google Maps, Facebook, and Flickr all needed to have their settings re-entered and occasionally licences re-agreed too. Google-chat and Opera didn't seem to.

Downloading now. We'll see if this fixes the battery life issue...

aparcedoluis 02-15-2009 01:03 PM

Use the .114 (I believe it is) radio in the .152 OS, youtube will work.

CableGuy711 02-15-2009 06:21 PM

whats new in this version?!

Dreskills 02-15-2009 06:38 PM

Ive had this build for about 2 weeks now. Its awesome it really fixed the battery life. Either that or my battery finally got broken in. My BB is quicker and less clocking than the original OS that came with my phone I had .133 also but I like this build better.

iLawCDN 02-15-2009 08:14 PM

Does anyone else have the small glitch that says
"Installing BB_HANDHELD_JAVASERIES_PRODUCTNAME"?

TXLady 02-15-2009 11:05 PM

That was probably the most painless upgrade I've performed. Only 15 minutes total.

Have you actually tried this or are you just guessing?

Garias 02-16-2009 06:38 AM

no issue at all during the upgrade process....

coldconfession13 02-16-2009 09:46 AM

I'm downgrading to .144 the radio is kinda funky on this build
