Hello there! Which BB is the fastest available to date?

Does anybody know the hardware specs on each BB? Is there a way to see?

No way to answer your question. Speed depends on too many variables, many of which are outside your control.

This one is easy. Go to the RIM website and look up the models you are interested in. You can also click on Compare and it will allow you to select 3 or 4 (forget for sure) to compare side by side.

I think I didn't express myself correctly, you'll see, I am kinda of a tech-addict person. What I'd love to know are technical, as in hardware stuff.

What CPU is being used? What speed is it running at? How much RAM and the speed of it the phone has? That kinda info.

I do know that my 8520 has a 512MHz CPU inside, and IIRC the 9700 has one running a 860MHz (around there).

My main usage is as a small-portable-and-long-battery-life-mini-computer. My BB handles all my e-mails, agenda, events, etc. And I find that I use the internet connection a lot, since it is unlimited. But loading websites is painfully slow. I found this forum some days ago, but until today I got my internet service back I haven't been able to lurk it correctly without me losing my patience. NOTE: I am fully aware of how "crippled" the BB Browser is compared to those on the iPhone or Android, and how supposedly RIM is working on it for the OS 6.0, but that is not the point.

Thing is, yesterday I had to reboot (as in take out the battery) of my phone 5 times (3 of which in a row) due to it freezing up. I had to delete themes and WeatherBug, all my e-mails, several pictures and free the browser memory in order to withstand the use. The phone got to the point that having WLM open and BBIM at the same time running would give me the hourglass every 5 seconds. And trying to load BB App World froze my 8520 twice. A complete waste of time just to send an IM via WLM.

Background given, I know I sound kinda crazy, but BB is the best platform I have used so far, and I have no intentions to change it, but the amount of problems the 8520 has given me, have driven me crazy, and I want to change it ASAP. (too bad the 9700 wasn't out when I did the "upgrade"). Which is kinda annoying to pay for 3G+ and having a 2G phone for nothing.

So, thing is, considering web-browsing and multiple IM softwares running all together, what BB could handle that and not give me the hourglass every time I type in 3 characters?

Considering your ^^ environment, the 9700 would serve you best.

is it worth spending around 500 for it?

Only your specific requirements can determine that.

For sheer speed, I prefer a more streamlined device and OS. Give me the 7105t any day of the week. No camera, no SD Micro card, rock-solid OS 4.1, and a whopping 32 MB of internal memory. The minimalistic approach, evident in the spartan choice of things like themes, further illustrates the fact that the 7105t was a purpose-driven BlackBerry designed for speed and stability.

Except you couldn't see the display in daylight.

But I do have mostly fond memories of the 7100t because it was my first. However, it was almost useless outdoors in the daytime on a sunny day.

And nowadays? Is the 9700 the fastest in sheer power the Strom2

My son plays with my old 7100 series and every once in awhile I pop my SIM card in there and see how fast I can still navigate with the thumbwheel :) I do remember direct sunlight totally washing out the screen though.
