setting up blackberry 8800

i recently purchased a blackberry second-hand but i don't have a clue how to get it set up and functioning properly? is it simply a case of entering my sim card in to the phone? please help!

I assume that your current carrier is GSM. It helps to know which one you have, so please update your profile with that information.

Is the device from your carrier? If so then you need to call them, activate the device and insert your current SIM. To use most data features such as email, BBM, Facebook, maps and any other RIM related services, you will need a specific BB data plan from your carrier.

If the device is not from your carrier, you will first need to unlock it if it isn't already, before you can use it.

Please see our FAQ for additional information. You should also download and read the 8800 user guide.

It isn't good forum manners to hijack another's thread. I suggest you start your own in the appropriate section. To get you started, I suggest you find the users guide for the device, then read our FAQ.

Well you can check its user manual if you have it or there are many sites which will guide you through the proper steps on the BB help and setting up your BB.
