USA 3g vs international phone, & 9780 quality question

Hi, this is my first post here. I have a couple of questions regarding the 9780.

I'll start off with the easy question first. I have a Bold 9000 and thinking of buying the 9780. However, I've been really disappointed with the build quality of the 9000. I've had the speaker problem that just about everyone else has had, but I constantly have to fix it again & again (if there is a permanent fix, I haven't seen it). The slightest bump (even while in an Otterbox Defender case) seems to almost mute the volume again. I've also purchased & replaced the mid-plate from CNN.CN but 2 of the side buttons don't work, and the speaker is no good (plays music, but can't hear calls at all). I won't be buying anything from them ever again. And then I've had to replace the trackball, which isn't difficult, but for a +/- $500 phone (at the time I bought it) it's really disappointing to be fixing crap like this.

1) Are there any other 9000 users who have purchased the 9780 and are willing to share their opinion of the differences in build quality?

My fiancée (who is currently living in Thailand) wants to buy a 9780 while she is there. I've read about some international phones being unable to use the USA 3g data speeds.

2) Does anyone know if the 9780 in general (or specifically a 9780 purchased in Thailand) will be able to fully utilize the 3g data speeds in the USA? Anyway for me to determine this on my own (by looking at a model number, or maybe the data band #, etc)?

Thank you for any assistance. I appreciate it.

My previous bold 9000 had not had any problems and I am very happy with the 9780 so far. I am sure you will be happy with it.
