Can't get 3G signal on my 9300 Curve
 

Hi,

I bought a US AT&T 9300 Curve and I'm trying to use it in Ecuador with Claro but when I put the sim card it just get the Edge signal and it doesn't get ·G signal (just in case, there is 3G coverage in the area)

Anyone knows why is that and better yet, HOW to get this solved??

Hi First congratulations...Go to Manage connections - Mobile Network and change the mobile network mode to 3G & 2G.. when ever you have a 3G coverage it will shift to 3G otherwise it will be 2G hope i helped :)

Are you in an area where your carrier has 3G service?

Just in case it matters, I made a mistake on my first post. The phone is not an AT&T, it is actually a T-Mobile phone.
The AT&T does get 3G but the T-Mobile doesn't.

Yes, I'm sure there is 3G coverage in the area. (cause the AT&T gets it and T-Mobile doesn't).

I'm going to check if the problem is on the Mobile Networks configuratios as you say blackberry9300 and let you knw what happens.

It matters.
You won't get 3G with a T-Mobile phone.
T-Mobile uses a different frequency for their 3G network... so the hardware you have isn't compatible with the 3G network in your area.

No way to make it work.
It doesn't have the necessary hardware to pick up those frequencies.

Good to learn this now. The description at Ebay said you just had to place the SIM and the would work everywhere. They should have stated that 3G was not possible outside US :(

I'll have to sell it here then with a loss for a price of a non 3G phone. :(

Btw....do you guys know where can I find instructions to disassembly the 9300 to change the trackpad??

Same story here in Bolivia, Tigo carrier, and a T-mobile Blackberry 9300. I really should have read this before buying it. GGG
