Changing Video File Format from 3GP to MP4
Hi,
I have a new Plasma TV (Panasonic Viera) that has an SD Card slot on the side. I have an SD card in my 9900 and I want to be able to watch videos taken with my 9900 on my TV. Per the instruction manual, the TV only supports the following video file formats: SD-Video Files AVCHD Standard Compatible Files MP4 Files MKV Files MPEG-2 PS files MPEG-2 TS files But when I record a video on the 9900 and take the SD Card out and stick it in my TV, no files show up for viewing. When I use BBerry Desktop Manager, I can transfer the files and watch them on my computer. They're saved with the extension .3GP The question I have is is there anyway to change the settings on my BBerry so that it saves the files as one of the file formats above? That way, all I have to do is take the SD Card out of the 9900, stick it in the TV and I'm good to go. Otherwise I think I have to transfer the files to the computer, convert them to one of the file formats above, transfer them to a USB stick and then stick the USB stick into the TV. It's a lot more work and not worth the effort - I might as well just watch them on the computer. Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
Re: Changing Video File Format from 3GP to MP4
As far as the 3GP question, no you can't make the BB record in that format it will always be 3GP. You can convert it on you computer with the right software as you said, then you could plug in your SD card and try playing from there. Or if you TV is internet connectable you can convert your files and just stream them from your computer, taking out the need for SD card.

Sounds like you need to do one of 2 things.
1. Convert(I favor sly soft mobile, but not sure that reads 3GP[assume it does, since it can convert to it] or use something like handbrake. 2 Use an app like tiversity which converts on-the-fly Ineither a direct sd card is not going to work. Hopefully you have a htpc, gaming console, or a upnp tv. Side, you realize you will have to yank out your battery every time you want to view on the tv? Annoying think about the 9900 series (and I miss the additiona convience/silence keys) Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |
