OS: 9900 7.0.0.2290/7.0.0.540 (Multilanguage)

BlackBerry official Handheld Software v7.0.0.540 Handheld Software v7.0.0.2290 (Multilanguage)
This will install to any carrier's 9900 by following the instructions below.

File name: 9900M_PBr7.0.0_rel2290_PL5.0.0.694_A7.0.0.540_Voda fone_UK.exe
File size: 219.743 MB

Download the OS file here: https://swdownloads.blackberry.com/D...E00E6386AE7F44

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Anything noticeable about it?

Re: Official OS 9900 7.0.0.540

I just finished downloading. I haven't had the time to install. Will probably do it tomorrow. Since it's an official OS release, I would venture to say it's a bit more stable. They sure are pumping them out fast, at least for the 99xx series.

Been running it for a day. Seems about the same. Haven't gone into the guts yet to try and see what they have changed.

I am also using two new apps I have not used before so may take a few days to see what type of battery performance I am getting. I have a bad feeling about SocialScope. Will report back when I have a baseline.

Installed this last night and must say that the battery life improvement is amazing.

I couldnt fault he 9900 battery anyway, but now, after six hours post-charge, it still has 95% battery - and I have been sending/receiving emails all day.

Great find!

I have to post that I found my version....uhmmm so far. I love the battery power I am getting on this phone now. I can least make it 8-10 hours at work, and still have over 40% left when I get home. I always charge at night, so all I need is a day's worth. Social Scope is killing me, but I have set it to 'Never Refresh on Open' and turned off auto refresh.

Working well so far!!!

Your free and paid apps should show up in App World on your device under 'My World'. While I haven't heard of apps (compatible ones anyways) that have disappeared after an upgrade, it should just be as simple as opening App World and reinstalling. Have you tried looking through 'My World' in App World?

I would try to contact App World support/RIM. Free apps, who cares. Paid apps are a different story.

You are logging into App World with the same BBID that you previously had? You only have the one right?

Re: Latest OS: 9900 7.0.0.2290/7.0.0.540 (Multilanguage)

hum...when you said to check in My World, you meant on the device? Just for fun while searching for another app i went in BB AppWorld online logged in and tada! They where all there in MyWorld Online. Quick re-install/sync via the AppWorldInstaller plug-in for web browser.

So all is ok now! except for two app GoogleMaps and Zoompass wich is not updated for 9900/9930. I still had it due to device switch from 9000/9900.

anyway the end and thanks for the suggestion :p

Zoompass is pushed with Bell (OS7 compatible), not sure about Rogers though. Not too sure about Google Maps as I do not use it.

HELP!

Following the above instructions, after installing "9900M_PBr7.0.0_rel2290_PL5.0.0.694_A7.0.0.540_Vod afone_UK.exe", deleting the "Vendor.xml", and running the "Loader.exe" application...

I get the "Application Loader Wizard", and after scanning my device it shows just the "Wireless Music Sync". Then when I click the [Next] button, I get the screen "No actions are required.", and the OS does not get updated. (Nothing happens!)

I have a GSM unlocked BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 from T-Mobile, with the v7.0.0.250 OS & 5.0.0.448 platform. I am trying to upgrade/replace the OS with this newer Vodofone version, so that I can enable NFC communication, which T-Mobile decided to disable since they really hate their customers.

Can anyone please provide any suggestions on what I can do to upgrade this OS on my BlackBerry for NFC support.

I am having the same issues. I recently upgraded to .504, but for some reason cannot update to .540. The message I am getting is "no action required". Is there a setting within bb desktop that I must change?

nospam...I found this worked:

Check for hidden vendor.xml file at

[Local Drive]:\users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\Blackberry\Loader XML\vendor.xml

You will have to enable the option 'Show hidden files' on windows explorer.

Dear Boldover:

Thank you! Deleting both regular & hidden vendor.xml files as you described works, and I was able to update my OS to:

7.0 Bundle 2290 (v7.0.0.540, Platform 5.0.0.694)

Unfortunately in the connection manager, I still do not see any option for NFC, even though there is hardware to support it.

Does anyone else have NFC enabled, and does anyone have any tips to enable it?

Do you mean that globally, no end-user with the Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 has NFC enabled yet on their device?

If not, do you know which OS they are using?

If so, I guess I will have to wait for a future OS release that has NFC, right?
