9900 Battery Issues
1 Attachment(s)
Is anyone experiencing the same problem as I am getting on my BB 9900. When the battery get to about 1/4 the "Battery To Low For Radio" warning is displayed on the screen. I am currently getting around 5 hours battery out of 1 charge which is resulting in the multiple charges in a day. I have attached a screen shot of the issue.

Re: 9900 Battery Issues
Running the battery below 20% on a regular basis will damage a lithium battery. It works best if you keep it topped up whenever you are near a power source. Displaying the warning should prompt you to plug the device into a power source.
How long one gets on a charge depends on use. Since you did not detail your use pattern, no one can say whether 5 hours is a problem or not. |
Re: 9900 Battery Issues
I have turned the screen brightness down to 10% and have the wifi turned off all the time to try and save battery. On all social media I have disabled the auto updates so this is not replicating in the background.
I keep the phone topped up as much as possible and have resulted to carrying a charger where ever I go to ensure that I have charge when I need to make a call, however my issue is with the attached thumbnail on the original thread, blackberry smartphones usually only turn on the "Battery To Low For Radio" when the battery is on "Red" or under 5%, not when there is 1/3 of the battery remaining. |
Re: 9900 Battery Issues
Are you sure you have 33% remaining? Some themes do not show it correctly.

Re: 9900 Battery Issues
Hi, the theme is the standard theme that comes with the phone, i had not changed this only changed the background image

Re: 9900 Battery Issues
I am halfway through my battery and it's not even one o'clock. Not being able to download apps and having to carry around chargers is ridiculous in my opinion.
So far I'm truly disappointed and am thinking of changing phones. |
Re: 9900 Battery Issues
blackberry been replaced by phones 4 u uk. After investigation from their technical team they advised the phone had faulty hardware.
If you are experiencing these problems i would recommend speaking to the shop / company you got the phone from. |
Re: 9900 Battery Issues
A media card full of songs and pictures will take a long time to generate the thumbnails and song playlist, possibly making it slow up first use.
On device go to Options, Device, Application Management is a great way to see what your apps are doing with your CPU usage on Smartphone. Just slide top bar to CPU and see what is going on. Also touch the CPU menu to see other time variables. I found out that an app was eating away CPU cycles on mine Disable Compression on media card? go to Options, Device, Storage using a custom theme? try it for a day the factory default one to rule out your theme remember the esc key closes most apps, except for GPS and some chat clients. the other apps need to use menu and then exit or close. The farthest key to the right is a home key and does not close any apps per se but will end calls. |

Do not let it run completely out on a regular basis. You will damage the battery.

Re: 9900 Battery Issues
Rim is working on an issue with low battery chirp. Maybe they will find something related to the quick battery drain issue.

Re: 9900 Battery Issues
Mine goes through spells of exremely fast drain. Almost always it is a GPS app left on or Tapatalk stuck.
I really have trouble with Tapatalk, it is not a very reliable app. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |

Re: 9900 Battery Issues
I agree with danieljkent, my new Torch sucks, batteries that is. I've been a staunch Blackberry fan for about 14 years now, can't live without it. Lately I have to because the battery dies constantly. I recently replaced my previous Torch after I had worked it to death. The replacement Torch battery wouldn't last a day right from the start. Took it back, AT&T ordered a new battery, it did the same thing. Ended up replacing the entire phone, new torch is no different right out of the box. I hate to say it but I think my Blackberry days are numbered. I'm worried that if Blackberry can drive away an avid fan like me then their days are numbered as well. It's a damn shame!

Re: 9900 Battery Issues
My 2 cents. The grass is brown on both sides of the fence.
I had a 9900. Best BlackBerry I'd ever used, and I've had almost all of them, from the 950 on. Battery life was pretty bad. 6 hours max. That's it. Got a new Nokia Lumia 710 Windows Phone 7. I'd be THRILLED to get 6 hours out of it. It is a small battery, with a large, bright screen; a bad combination. Waiting for an improved battery and the ever popular "next software version" to see if it gets better. |
