Playbook Malfuctioning

Or I should say, not functioning. It all started with the new Blackberry Desktop Manager software update which pretty much f****d everything up. I plugged in my playbook via usb to transfer some media files onto it, and the software recognized the playbook but was stating that the battery was at zero(even though it was at around 68%, I turned it off and then proceeded in plugging it back in to see if that would rectify the problem), and BB desktop stated that there was a new software updated(1.08xx). I figured it was an incremental update, perhaps right before the 2.0 update, but it was probably just glitchy software.

Anyways, so now the Playbook is stuck at a 0% battery life, turns off when I unplug it from the wall charger, and so I cannot complete the software setup to run the damn thing. Has this happened to a lot of people? What should I do? :l

Welcome to the forums. You have the same issue as me.

I bet even when you eventually get it powered on after the battery goes to 0% you can no longer use AppWorld.

I sent mine in for repair once and they didn't fix it. I need a replacement, and am currently struggling through that.

Good luck, you'll need it with this issue. Call them right away, hope you get a support agent who understands this problem, hope they replace the unit...

I just saw your thread, but at least your actually able to get into the menu. I'm stuck at a screen with the message "Battery Level Critically low:Please connect your device to a power source(which it is). The software update will resume when the battery level is above 20%." And thanks for the tip, I'll call them next week(do you have a number, by the way?)

I haven't really tried doing any security wipe or any other sort of reinstalling the software techniques, are there any guides on how to go about doing that?

PlayBook Technical Support Phone Number - PlayBook Help Phone

If you just got it you're within the 90 days of "complimentary support" which is non-warranty support.

What you should try is the "de-brick"

PlayBook turned off, plugged into computer.
Desktop manager open
Turn PlayBook on

It should tell you that it is having problems and suggests you re-install the OS. Do that.

It'll download the entire OS (400MB or so) and then re-install it.

Your PlayBook will be back to normal. I suggest using it heavily because the issue could come right back. I wasn't a heavy user so it would linger and then 3 weeks later my PB was broken again.

Hopefully you're not seeing the same issue as me, but if so that's a replacement for sure

After the last up date 1.8 desktop manager can not back up your PB. They say 2.0 will make changes with desktop manager. Ever since the 1.8 update you can only sync files with your PC. If with the lastest Desktop update back up stil fails. We wait We wait.

Not true for everyone, I can backup mine with 100s of apps installed.

There have been a few issues with a few apps and a desktop manger issue but both should be resolved soon.
