Playbook "screen swipe" to power on - can this be deactivated?

Hi,
I'd like to carry my Playbook around with me without using a case or a sleeve, but I can't because as soon as something touches the screen it switches itself on. Is there a way of deactivating this function so that the screen only comes on if I press the power button on top of the device? I've searched all the options and setting but can't find anything that helps.
Thanks!
AB

no way to disable it from what i have seen

you can put a password on it so nothing will activate though

there are some cases with flip covers you can get that are light and will prevent this.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I was hoping to avoid having to buy a case, but it looks like there's no alternative.
Thanks KR!
