How to synchronize email via USB cable?

When staying at office, I want to synchronize emails via USB cable, not wireless.

However, I do not know how to configure on the Desktop Manager or blackberry device.

Does anyone once meet this situation?

Thank you.

You can't.
E-mail does not sync via cable on any BlackBerry.
E-mail is delivered to your BlackBerry wirelessly through the use of BES, BIS or Desktop Rediector.

i think he means that he wants to send and receive email from his HH while its plugged in and not use his wireless network, all you need to do it plug the BB in and that will work, you can even take your SIM card out if you really want and it will still work while plugged in

Yes, I think that's what he means also. It's not possible.

No, this is absolutely incorrect.
Without a wireless signal, you'll never get any e-mail delivery on a BlackBerry.

On BES if you connect device to PC and have redirect when connected enabled all mail will be delivered to handheld -- if you compose a message on BB and run the sync with Reconcile email as one of your processes it will send mail....

Yes, but it is still delivered WIRELESSLY, not through the USB cable.
You still need an active wireless connection to receive e-mail on the BlackBerry.

No, that's wrong. The message will only reconcile via the cable, not send to the recipient.
The mail will send WIRELESSLY, when you have a wireless signal.
It does NOT get sent via USB cable connected to the computer.

Ok - won't argue with you - I guess it only works for me and my 300+ users

iamjeffery 05-13-2007 09:08 PM

In fact, I have tried to switch off the wireless and connected the HH to the PC. Then configure the xxx8220;Redirectionxxx8221; option in Desktop manager to enable redirect incoming message to device. However, it failed again.

To penguin3107 and Andi, thank you so much for the help.

if it is possible, would you please give the detailed solution to me?

It is not possible to do.
Andi seems to think it is, and I still claim that he/she (and his 300+ users) are wrong.
I'm very curious to see what "solution" you are provided to a problem that simply can't be fixed the way you want it to.

gziz 05-14-2007 07:13 AM

it is possible, i do it everyday, try it, you can even take out your sim card and it will still work, you guys are both wrong. it doesnt need a wireless signal because you are connected to your mailbox when you are plugged in to desktop manager and when you send out a email exchaneg is what sends it out so you dont need a wireless signal.

gziz 05-14-2007 07:15 AM

penguin you are 100 percent wrong.

penguin3107 05-14-2007 07:26 AM

I already have 1 warning in my profile for losing my temper here.

I'm not about to do it again, so I'll kindly remove myself from this topic after this post, while I still maintain that you cannot sync e-mail on any BlackBerry.... with or without a data plan and/or active wireless signal.
E-mail DOESN'T sync on a BlackBerry. E-mail is delivered to a BlackBerry via BIS, BES or Desktop Redirector. E-mail can reconcile wirelessly or wired via USB cable. It NEVER SYNCS.

The last word is yours if you want it. I won't be posting in this thread again.

gziz 05-14-2007 07:52 AM

we are not talking about syncing email if you had a brain you would understand that, we are talking about routing email to the blackberry while the blackberry in plugged in to the corporate desktop manager without using wireless signal and i dare you to try it an dyou will see it works.

turn your wireless off and plug your blackberry to desktop manager that is connected to your exchange mailbox and send your self a email and you WILL recieve the email on your blackberry even though the wireless is off.

iamjeffery 05-14-2007 07:56 AM

Thanks a lot for everyones' response.

I have to ask this question, what's the difference between reconcile and syncs. I can not distinguish them:(

Maybe I did not give a clear idea to you all. As penguin said, E-mail can reconcile wired via USB cable. So will the mail will be downloaded from server to blackberry in this way?

Rgds.

JSanders 05-14-2007 07:58 AM

gziz, this Forum is not the place for your insults.

The OP asked how to synchronize his mail via USB. Both of you have answered his question according to how they interpreted his questions.

For one thing, sync will place old email on your device -- syncronizing your desktop mailbox and your handheld mailbox. Reconciliation won't do that though it will update read status and deletions of old email. This is why we say that email doesn't sync on any BB. You don't get full sync no matter what (wired or wireless, BIS or BES).

I think there are some other differences but I can't recall off the top of my head.

This may be a misunderstanding between CDMA and GSM. I have Verizon as well and can not do any data transfer, or email at all with out the wireless connection. If you turn off the radio in the menu you can not send or receive email at all. It may not be this way with GSM providers.

Hi all,

My question (my first post) is very similar, so I hope I'm ok to ask it in this thread. We run BES 4.0 for about a dozen users attached to an internal facing only Exchange server. We have a few new starters who have both laptops and Blackberrys. When they're in the office they want to send their email via their laptop plugged into the network (no problem), but out on the road they want a choice of 2 different methods:

1. Write/receive their email on the blackberry.
2. Write/receive their email on the laptop while plugged into the Blackberry and have it "sync".

The 2nd choice would be mainly for sending and receiving attachements that aren't Blackberry friendly. So the 1st question is: can this be done? If so, how?

Thanks
Graham
