BB Today Weather Location ID

Hey I was wondering where do I go to look up my location ID for the BB Today weather feature?

towski394 05-03-2005 10:57 AM

Many many many topics discussing this try doing a search for pocketday or BBtoday you will find all the information you will ever want.

No. Not in BBWeather. It's a different code, like an airport code.

Zip code may work in BBToday (not 100% sure), but in BBWeather, you definitely need a weather location code, such as "AA123456"

Dawg 05-03-2005 11:28 AM

Mark,
I used my zipcode in the BBweather and it worked just fine

jacobsaa 05-03-2005 11:34 AM

Mark,

I thought the BBtoday and weather used the same. I had the prog. on my phone and it worked before.

my zip code works fine in BBWeather. Either that, or the forecast somewhere else is exactly the same as in Dallas..... :)

I'm using PocketDay and for US locations the zip code works great. International locations are trickier. I did find a link that led me to the following code for Tokyo as an example:

JAXX0085

from your BB:

Definately interesting... I have installed bbWeather, and the locid for St Catharines is CAXX0416. When I install bbToday, I threw in the code for St Catharines and get the element missing or whatever error message... go figure eh...

Maybe I will try Hamilton. What I have noticed though is that the weather reporting from weather.com isn't all that accurate, even though I am pretty close to the US border. I may be given the time at work to try and pull a feed from theweathernetwork.com as they seem to have more accurate weather info for Southern Ontario.

If I do get to do this, I will definately make the revised code/ALX/COD available for others.

BBToday and Canadian Cities for Weather

I'm using BBToday and I've tried changing the weather locaction to Toronto, Canada...but no luck - its not letting me change the default which is "The Woodlands, Texas"

can anyone help out herE?

corey@12mile 05-24-2005 09:43 AM

Type in toronto for the location, then click the thumb wheel and select Lookup... it should convert it to the proper code for you, then click the thumbwheel again and click Save.

How do you find the location ID for Canadian Cities?

Location Codes

Hi

I am in England and jutst installed the BBweather app on my 8700f, to get the location codes I used www weather com and then entered the towns I wanted.

The codes returned were UKXX0681 for Coalville and UKXX1300 for Waterlooville and they work a treat.

So I would suggest you go to the link enter your town/city and look at the code in the address the link goes to.

Hope that helps, it works great for me.

Mark

Hmm - you woke up a four month old thread to answer a question that had already been answered...
