Check to see if you have more then one Outlook profile at home. (Start -> Control Panel -> Mail -> Show profiles). If you do set Desktop Manager to sync with the correct profile.

Corrupt message database. Wipe it using desktop manager, or just security wipe the BB and reactivate it on the BES.

I bet if he tries to manually delete these messages on the BB they won't go.

Also open the orginal and see if it saying received using Desktop (secure). 100 bucks says it is saying "unknown".
