Can 8800 be used as GPS receiver for Laptops?

On a similar note, what I'd like to be able to do - now that google maps has the 'mymaps' feature, is to capture GPS locations while out, say in a city, then when home - import them into google maps...

For some reason, on my imac (running 10.4.8) running pocketmac and syncing my new 8800, pocketmac always hangs 3/4 of the way through syncing (on the message "synchronizing data"). Is this a known...
