After I removed VAD, when I opened the EA screen, the normal options to enter email address / password as well as the display of the PIN was missing; it only showed the date of the last activation.

Haven't read all 30x pages, but it seems removing VAD on a VZW 8330 removes some needed files for BES / EA (in addition to the already known inability to use About from the menu).
