It is possible Blackberry uses multiple servers to handle the data flow of a blackberry.
All Pre OS10 phones send all data to a RIM server then to the receiver for security. the carriers do not flow...

Without going into massive detail, all IP data has a start and end and the various addresses are in the header and link data. Without knowing where to reply to and where to send to nothing would...
