Oh, OK. The 64 Mb is total memory. the 28 Mb is what you have free. That's very good on a Pearl.

Do you mean the SMS/MMS icon is in a sub-folder? Highlight it and press the applications button, then select Move. You should be able to move it "up" one level to the main applications screen.
