You can write notes in the Calender and the Memo Pad, the Memo Pad being specifically for that.

If you don't see it, use the options>show all.

The fastest way I've found on mine is to type in the name I have under the address book. As I type it, it lists the possible names and narrows it down as I type. I don't know if the 8100 can do it...
