If uninstalling the program didn't fix the problem, then the program isn't the problem. Uninstalling completely removes it. Did you install something else between the backup from the day earlier...

I haven't seen a way to turn that off. Your best option would probably be to upgrade to the TIM firmware and disable autodim. Or take the ball out and electrical tape over the white LED.

Yeah, that's how it works. And it's a hex field, so the "numbers" go 0-F. To put in a letter, hit Alt-key. To put F instead of D, hold Alt and hit D/F twice.
