Thanks for your suggestions. The phone was new to me only a few days before it failed so I can't be certain of what happened to it before that, apart from to say that it looks virtually brand...

Having watched it trying to reinstall a number of times, it always gets stuck at the part where it is trying to reconnect with JVM, whatever that means?

I have used blackberry desk top to up load the OS and it works out which system to install I believe. I have also tried directly from the website and also tried finding and installing the software...

The battery is not the problem, I have another 9810 which is working properly still and I have swopped batteries, recharged them etc etc etc.

I eventually got BBSAK to talk to the dead phone once...
