The BB I currently have is my first smartphone & I love what you can do with it - most of the competition have only touch-screen handsets which I cannot get used to at all & don't like them even...

My Curve 8520 has stopped giving me an alert sound for incoming emails despite the alert sound settings being unchanged. I get sound alerts okay for PIN messages & SMS, just not for incoming emails....

And only do an OS update if that version is approved by your carrier. Usually there will be a link on your carrier's website for BlackBerry users, which takes you to the appropriate RIM update page...
