I think T-Mobile has $5.99 plan called T-zone and if I am not wrong then you can try that plan too. I am not so sure about it as one of my friend told me that he is using that plan and its working...

if you are a t-mobile customer for more than 3 months then they can provide you unlock code for your device...atleast I can get mine from at&t.
