I'm trying to put files onto it but not attempted to try that yet as the software can't connect to my playbook and no idea why because on the playbook itself saying connected to computer

I have just purchased a blackberry playbook but it won't connect to my windows 8 laptop when connected it says it's connected on the playbook itself but on the blackberry desktop program it can't...
