This seems to be a known glitch that's been talked about here. After you reinstall app world (which I've had to do a number of times), go into "My App World" and do the following: hold down the 'alt' key and press the 'R', then 'S', then 'T' keys. It'll exit app world, then just go back and in and things should be all cleaned up for you. Plus you'll gain back some memory.
