There isn't one solution to this, because there isn't one problem.
There could be many reasons why this is happening.

Can you please provide more detailed information about this issue?
What troubleshooting steps have you taken?
What platform and version of BES?

On the message which gets the Red X, if you open it on the handheld and scroll up, what's the actual error message say?
